Program notes: Rhapsody for violin, clarinet, and piano was written in December 2003. It was very important to write this piece without a specific story or program. With that said, it was difficult to find an "absolute" title that felt right. During the creation of the piece, many titles were used and then replaced. In the end, Rhapsody was the only title that did not get completely filtered out. But after the first rehearsal, the performers thought that another previous title, Burlesca, was better. In this situation, majority ruled, and I happily changed the title to Burlesca. Reviews: "Burlesca, by Dante De Silva (2003), is a lively and sparkling trio for clarinet, violin, and piano, successfully emphasizing fluid interaction [...]. It was played with great verve and an astute sense of instrumental balance by the three performers, whetting the appetite for other works by De Silva and performances by this ensemble ."
